Professor Plein is a Consultant Cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, Professor of Cardiology and Director of the Advanced Imaging Centre at the University of Leeds. Professor Plein's research focuses on patients at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, such as those with diabetes mellitus and immune mediated inflammatory disease. His research group investigates disease mechanisms in multi-morbidity and studies the effects of therapies on disease progression and patient outcome using advanced cardiovascular imaging.
