Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field of science that develops methods and software tools for processing and understanding large and complex multi-omic datasets. The power of large datasets for providing insight into diagnostic, prognostic and mechanistic pathways cannot be understated, and novel bioinformatic approaches will prove invaluable for signposting novel studies and advising new treatment strategies in the CVD-IMID population.
Alongside our novel and expansive data collection approaches, the UK CARDIO-IMID Partnership is seeking to develop data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to deliver on diagnostic, prognostic, mechanistic and target biomarker discovery and validation. The Partnership brings together experts in the field of data science and machine learning from imaging to genomics and high-throughput sequencing. Our depth of expert knowledge and rich datasets are being leveraged to generate novel multi-omic analysis techniques to support biomarker discovery and validation in the CVD-IMID population.
